June 7, 2023 - Inclusive Physical Activities for Young Children (VIRTUAL) 6:30 - 8 PM

CDA Subject Area:  2 – Advancing children’s physical and intellectual development

Audience:  All

Description: Providing developmentally appropriate, non-competitive and inclusive physical activities for all ages and abilities should be part of every quality early childhood program.  In this session, participants will learn to lead physical activities using inexpensive equipment and small spaces to allow for all young children to experiment and explore movement. They will also learn strategies to modify physical activities to include all learners.

June 9, 2023 - DIRECTOR TRAINING - You Wear it Well: Leadership Looks Good on You - 9am - noon

You must be a director or administrator of a child care program to attend this session!

Leading others is no easy task. It’s a selfless and extremely rewarding honor to be in a position to influence others. Using the books How Great Leaders Think, and The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, this workshop will allow participants to develop the leader in themselves and others in order to become a more effective and influential leader. June 21, 2023 - Supporting Creative Development: Open-Ended Creative Experiences in Art, Music, Movement and Dramatic Play (VIRTUAL) 6:30 - 8 PM

Audience:  All

Description: How can we design environments that promote creativity? In this session, participants will learn how to support creativity though daily interactions and experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The group will discuss the importance of open-ended creative experiences for ages birth through five for visual arts, music and movement and dramatic arts. Participants will also review the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards that correspond to creative development.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 - In-Person Orientation for Early Care and Education Professionals – 6 hour training, $50/participant

Cost: $50

Audience: All

Description:  This mandatory training focuses on Health, Safety, and Sanitation, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse, and Recommended Practices. This session is required for all child care employees and must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.

Time:  9 am – 3:30 pm with a half-hour lunch break

Understanding and Using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires

Audience:  All

Description:  This course is designed to help you understand and use the Ages and Stages Questionnaires to monitor children’s progress and to make sure that all children have the supports needed to succeed. Participants will learn the purpose of these screeners, when and how to use them, how to score and interpret, and best practice for communicating results with families.

Description:This training will cover an overview of behaviors, resiliency, and strategies to use in the classroom to assist with decreasing challenging behaviors. After discussing common challenging behaviors that take place in early childhood classrooms, participants will have the opportunity to participate in group discussions about strategies to support those children and the classroom. These topics will lead to deeper learning on how identifying behaviors and using effective and consistent strategies will foster connections and lead to regulation and resiliency. Participants will: 1) Define challenging behaviors, where they can come from, and their purposes; 2) Understand resiliency and describe how to build it; and 3) Learn specific positive behavior strategies to prevent, replace, and change the response to decrease challenging behaviors in the classroom. The early childhood classroom is a unique space and teachers who work with small children are faced with unique challenges. This training focuses on specific special needs and behaviors that teachers are often faced within the early childhood space. The content is geared towards children from birth to age 5 but can be utilized by teachers of school-age children as well.
