Position Description/Requirements:

Family Child Care (FCC) Specialist will be responsible for recruiting, coaching, training, offering technical assistance, and other supports to family child care providers (registered, certified and Type II family child care homes) in Anderson, Franklin, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Woodford Counties. This position will be responsible for collaboration with area businesses and supporting FCC providers with the STARS Quality Rating System.

FCC Specialist should have experience working in the early care and education field, working in or with Family Child Care is preferred; hold a KY Trainer Credential or be willing to earn one upon hire; have knowledge of Family Child Care programs and supports; and understanding of Adult Learning Principles. Responsibilities include travel to visit FCC homes; regional meetings; capability to work both independently without close oversight, and also be a collaborative team member.  Specialist must value diversity and demonstrate cultural and linguistic sensitivity. Be able to work both independently without close  oversight, but also be a collaborative team member.

Qualifications:

  • Collaborates with professional development specialist, workshop instructor and early childhood specialists to carry out professional development initiatives in alignment with agency’s vision and mission.
  • Facilitates virtual classes by completing the virtual training report, watches the chat feature and helps when needed to answer questions or point out questions to the instructor and offers any other necessary support to the instructor.

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Child Development Associate in Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Human Ecology or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in early learning and development and/or school-age settings.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adult learners
  • Knowledge of child development and program administration.
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles and methods professional development.
  • Operates in a self-directed and organized manner in order to successfully meet objectives.
  • Communicates effectively with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing.
  • Sufficient computer skills to communicate electronically, facilitate virtual learning (Zoom), and gather appropriate data for workshop participants.
  • Must be able to build relationships with community partners and co-workers based on mutual respect, demonstrate effective communication skills, practice conflict resolution skills, have an ongoing commitment to learning, possess good observation skills, and model best practices working with young children.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the region of Northern Kentucky with occasional travel to conferences and other events and perform routine agency errands.
